About the position

The Meeting Planner position at FINRA is responsible for managing the logistics and operations of meetings and events, particularly utilizing the Cvent technology platform. This role involves overseeing registration processes, coordinating with various stakeholders, and ensuring the successful execution of events such as the Annual Conference. The Meeting Planner will also handle budget management, vendor negotiations, and provide training to users on the Cvent tool, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the Strategic Meeting Management program.

Responsibilities

• Manage meeting logistics and on-site operations for assigned projects.
• Oversee site selection, contract negotiations, and rooming lists.
• Create food and beverage programs that enhance meetings while controlling costs.
• Develop and provide forecasts for meeting budgets and reconcile meeting invoices.
• Advise and interact with the conference steering committee to establish meeting design and objectives.
• Maintain relationships with state societies for continuing legal education credits.
• Implement projects independently and work collaboratively with various departments.

Requirements

• College degree or equivalent experience in meeting management or hospitality.
• Five (5) years of experience in meeting management or hospitality.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the hospitality industry and vendor contract negotiation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and knowledge of Cvent database is a plus.
• Ability to implement projects independently and work as part of a team.

Nice-to-haves

• Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) certification preferred.
• Experience with video and audio conferencing equipment.
