About the position

The Associate Director of Member Credit will serve as the primary rating and research analyst responsible for underwriting and monitoring credit facilities for a portfolio of depository financial institutions. This role involves conducting comprehensive credit underwriting and due diligence processes to assess creditworthiness, risk profiles, and asset quality. The successful candidate will enhance engagement with member-obligors and implement an improved credit underwriting framework to mitigate risks and comply with regulatory guidelines, thereby supporting the Bank's mission.

Responsibilities

  • Perform ongoing member credit analysis, including full scope credit reviews using quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Conduct ongoing surveillance and exposure monitoring to identify key factors affecting internal credit ratings.
  • Communicate credit knowledge and rating analysis rationale effectively in both written and oral forms.
  • Accompany relationship managers on member-client calls to support credit analysis and rating recommendations.
  • Present credit memos, including credit rating and credit term recommendations for review by the rating committee.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of industry trends and issues relevant to credit analysis.
  • Support reporting to management committee and board of directors regarding credit matters.
  • Conduct periodic industry sector reviews and exposure analysis for assigned credits.
  • Underwrite applications for new Bank membership in compliance with regulations and Bank policies.
  • Analyze credit risk for assigned institutions and recommend changes in credit ratings and exposure limits as necessary.
  • Maintain familiarity with capital markets trends and their effects on member financial conditions.
  • Administer and execute credit mitigation plans for large or troubled members on the watch-list.
  • Respond to examinations and regulatory requirements as needed with management guidance.

Requirements

  • Minimum of seven years' experience analyzing, mitigating, and managing credit risk in a regulated financial institution or credit-rating agency.
  • Experience assessing credit risk associated with bank and non-bank financial institutions, including insurance companies and community development institutions.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and statutory accounting standards and familiarity with the regulatory environment for insured depositories and insurance companies.
  • Ability to prepare written financial analysis memorandums and use data for decision making.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate complex analyses clearly.
  • Solid understanding of credit rating methodologies and statistical models.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Excel and familiarity with SQL, Python, or R.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
