About the position

The Geological Society of America (GSA) is seeking a Member & Customer Services Specialist to provide exceptional service and support to its members. This role involves processing membership dues, handling inquiries, and maintaining membership records while ensuring a positive experience for all members. The specialist will also assist in administrative tasks and support the Director of Strategic Outreach and Engagement, contributing to the overall success of GSA's initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Provide service and support to individuals contacting GSA through various methods.
• Process new member/member renewal dues and subscription sales.
• Handle meeting information requests, registrations, and invoices.
• Manage publication sales and new contracts for standing order accounts.
• Maintain inventory control for scientific publications.
• Provide customer support for GSA and engage with members via the community website.
• Ensure effective communication and manage project implementation.
• Oversee administrative tasks such as drafting correspondence and data entry.
• Respond to member inquiries in a timely manner to ensure a positive experience.
• Update and maintain the association management database and membership records.
• Serve as the key contact for members regarding program/event registration and inquiries.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• 5 years of customer service experience
• Basic office experience
• General understanding of accounting principles
