About the position

The Member Experience Representative I at Valley Strong Credit Union is responsible for providing exceptional service to members while processing financial transactions and promoting credit union products and services. This part-time role emphasizes building relationships with members, ensuring accurate transaction processing, and maintaining cash controls. The representative engages proactively with members to identify their financial needs and assist them in achieving their goals.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional member experience throughout the community.
• Process financial transactions including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and payments.
• Maintain accurate records and balance daily transactions according to established policies.
• Engage proactively with members to identify products and services that assist them in achieving financial goals.
• Answer member questions and direct them to appropriate departments for specialized services.
• Utilize basic sales techniques to deepen existing member relationships.
• Maintain responsibility for all cash controls and follow proper balancing procedures.
• Identify members' needs and cross-sell or refer them to appropriate business partners.
• Report fraudulent activity to prevent potential loss to the credit union.
• Assist in the operation of ATM and Teller Cash Dispenser units.
• Ensure confidentiality of all member and credit union information.
• Stay current on products, fees, and policies to make product suggestions.
• Understand the role in sales growth and meet branch-assigned and individual goals.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1-3 years of prior experience in a banker role at another financial institution or customer relationship building role preferred.
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
• Mathematical skills to perform basic calculations and compute dividends and interest.
• Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in banking or financial services.
• Familiarity with Fiserv or similar transaction processing systems.
