About the position

The Mechanical Engineer position at Sandia National Laboratories involves supporting production efforts for the W88 ALT370 Arming, Fuzing & Firing (AF&F) system. The role requires strong interpersonal, analytical, and teamwork skills to resolve production challenges collaboratively across various internal and external agencies. The selected candidate will work closely with engineers and technicians to update design definitions and serve as a systems point of contact for product realization teams, contributing to national security and technology innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve production challenges in a collaborative manner across multiple internal and external agencies.
  • Work with engineers, technologists, and technicians from multiple Sandia National Labs and other organizations to solve technical challenges.
  • Update design definition and documentation.
  • Serve as systems point of contact to component product realization teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Systems Engineering with a Mechanical background, or equivalent experience in engineering or science.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Mechanical Engineering or Systems Engineering.
  • Active DOE Q clearance or equivalent (DoD Top Secret clearance).
  • Experience in a nuclear weapon system or component organization.
  • Previous work with the Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC) and/or Pantex.
