About the position

The Member Services Associate is a front-line customer service role at the United States of America Chess Federation, focusing on assisting members with their membership needs. This position offers growth potential for the right candidate and requires excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Familiarity with chess, including tournaments and ratings, is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist members with creating, renewing, and troubleshooting membership records.
  • Exercise quality control over the membership database by logging change requests, returned mail, and other updates.
  • Comfortably answer and research member inquiries using the most appropriate communication method.
  • Utilize a range of technology, including Microsoft Office Suite and CiviCRM, along with other standard office tools.
  • Perform general office duties related to processing mail, receiving deliveries, and welcoming visitors to the office.
  • Handle special projects and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Self-starter.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior chess experience, including familiarity with tournaments and ratings.
