About the position
The Member Services Officer role at South A+ Federal Credit Union combines the responsibilities of a Teller and a Personal Banker. This entry-level position focuses on providing exceptional service to members, assisting them with financial transactions, and recommending suitable financial solutions. The role emphasizes a sales and service culture, aiming to enhance members' financial well-being while supporting the credit union's growth objectives.
Responsibilities
- Process member transactions efficiently and accurately.
- Identify members' financial needs and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Cross-sell products and services to current and prospective members.
- Meet or exceed established sales and service goals.
- Participate in outside business development and community events.
- Operate and maintain a cash drawer, ensuring it is balanced.
- Sell special service items such as money orders and gift cards.
- Assist members with opening and closing various types of accounts.
- Update account information as needed, including ownership and beneficiaries.
- Assist members with loan applications and inquiries about products and services.
- Perform stop payments and process wire transfers.
- Handle claims of fraudulent use of debit cards and manage card issuance.
- Maintain confidentiality of member information and perform other assigned duties.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Six months of work experience in sales, teller, or personal banking preferred.
- Ability to work at least 40 hours a week.
- Strong problem-solving skills to resolve member issues.
- Excellent communication skills in person, via email, and over the phone.
Nice-to-haves
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
