As a Memory Care Activity Assistant at Brookdale Shawnee, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents within the dementia care community. Your primary responsibility will be to assist the Clare Bridge Program Manager or Coordinator in leading and implementing a calendar of person-centered, dementia-friendly programs tailored to meet the specific needs of each resident. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about working with older adults and are committed to providing meaningful and purposeful engagement for those living with dementia. In alignment with Brookdale's Resident and Family Engagement philosophy, you will support the implementation of programs that recognize individual abilities and needs, encouraging independence while honoring residents' historical routines, interests, and preferences. You will engage residents in various activities across the seven domains of well-being—purposeful, intellectual, social, spiritual, emotional, and physical—within a structured environment. This includes facilitating sensory-focused small groups for residents who may not be able to participate in larger group settings. Your role will also involve assisting in the review of individual resident service plans and completing necessary program documentation in compliance with Brookdale standards and state regulations. You will communicate positively with residents, families, and community professionals about the benefits of the Brookdale dementia care program, ensuring that families are informed about their loved ones' personal needs and successes. Additionally, you will coordinate and participate in special events within the community, including family socials and marketing initiatives. This position requires a commitment to quality improvement initiatives and may involve driving a community motor vehicle to support scheduled programming events outside the community. You will also assist with volunteer programs, including training and supervising volunteers, and may perform personal care, housekeeping, and dietary responsibilities as needed to maintain service quality.
