About the position

The Resident Assistant Supervisor for Men at the Union Gospel Mission is responsible for providing guidance and leadership to the Intake Desk at the Men's Shelter. This role involves supervising Resident Assistants and overseeing all aspects of client services and house management, ensuring a clean, safe, and healing environment for clients. The supervisor will communicate effectively with staff, clients, and volunteers, and will be involved in training, scheduling, and maintaining operational standards in alignment with the organization's mission.

Responsibilities

  • Train, empower, and equip employees to practice UGM's Core Values.
  • Ensure the Men's Shelter Director is informed of all critical activities in your area of responsibility.
  • Approve employee hours in the time clock system weekly, verifying PTO for accurate payroll.
  • Allocate adequate time and resources for training new staff and volunteers.
  • Supervise volunteers and RA staff throughout their shift and assist with public inquiries.
  • Create and input monthly RA shift schedule into UKG at least 2 weeks in advance.
  • Schedule RA meetings bi-weekly and Deskman meetings monthly, ensuring training components are covered.
  • Administer random urinalysis and breathalyzer tests as assigned.
  • Maintain reports and client information, updating shift logs and communicating key information to staff.
  • Provide direct supervision of the Day Room and line security during mealtimes.
  • Attend all required UGM and site-specific meetings and trainings.
  • Ensure intake and exit processes are followed by all staff, volunteers, and clients.
  • Secure medication and ensure availability to clients 24/7.
  • Maintain accuracy of the desk manual and communicate changes with the Men's Shelter Director.
  • Ensure effective client PADMAN coaching meetings with RA staff are happening.
  • Spend a minimum of half of the shift at the Day Desk.
  • Ensure deskmen check client notes for visitor and client check-ins to maintain safety.
  • Handle incidents according to UGM policies and document appropriately.
  • Monitor transient camps within 2 blocks of UGM and enforce no camping policy.
  • Perform security checks and monitor cameras to ensure facility safety.
  • Confiscate weapons and paraphernalia and dispose of drugs as necessary.
  • Provide crisis management for mission residents as needed.

Requirements

  • Committed Christian with a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with compassion and discernment.
  • Ability to honor leadership and ministry objectives of Union Gospel Mission.
  • Computer literate in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and instructional communication skills.
  • Trustworthy, reliable, and able to model appropriate boundaries.
  • Minimum 5 years sobriety if in recovery.
  • Minimum of 3 years living outside of a UGM facility if applicable.
  • Valid Washington or Idaho driver's license required.
  • CPR/First Aid certification recommended.
  • Yearly TB clearance required.
  • Criminal background check clearance required.

Nice-to-haves
