About the position

The Menlo Park Safe Rest Village Program Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations and staff of the Menlo Park Safe Rest Village, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for individuals experiencing homelessness. This role involves leadership, program design, staff supervision, and collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance the effectiveness of the program.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, support, and positive role modeling for Menlo staff.
  • Promote a team environment where villagers' needs and success are paramount.
  • Monitor the Village site and surrounding areas to ensure safety and welcoming conditions.
  • Enforce applicable Good Neighbor Agreements.
  • Assist with program design, implementation, reporting, and evaluation to increase access and efficiency.
  • Hire, supervise, and train Menlo Park Safe Rest Village staff, including scheduling and timecard approval.
  • Coordinate coverage for team members when absent.
  • Demonstrate initiative, problem-solving, and crisis de-escalation while maintaining a safe space.
  • Assist in developing and implementing on-the-job training for village staff.
  • Ensure programs empower villagers to attain self-determination and stability.
  • Maintain adequate inventories of operating supplies within budget.
  • Assist with preparing budgets and overseeing expenditures for the program.
  • Complete staff evaluations and set goals with clear expectations.
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams regarding upkeep of the Village.
  • Maintain positive relationships with program participants and stakeholders.
  • Interact effectively with diverse individuals and treat each with respect.
  • Plan and organize work effectively to ensure completion.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree with 3 years experience in social services for low-income and/or unhoused neighbors.
  • At least 1 year of supervisory/managerial experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and present reports and proposals.
  • Excellent computer skills, including word processing and database management.
  • Advanced knowledge of Trauma-Informed Care Principles.
  • Knowledge of de-escalation methods.

Nice-to-haves

  • An advanced degree may substitute for one year of required experience.
  • 5 years' experience in social services for low-income and/or homeless persons, with 2 years in a managerial position.
