About the position
The Men's Addiction Counselor at Keystone Treatment Center is responsible for providing comprehensive care to individuals suffering from chemical dependency and co-occurring mental health conditions. This role involves conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and facilitating both group and individual therapy sessions. The counselor will work within a supportive team environment, contributing to the recovery process of patients through evidence-based therapeutic interventions and the 12 Steps of Recovery.
Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments on each assigned patient.
- Develop measurable treatment plans based on assessment.
- Conduct or assist in group therapy sessions.
- Conduct individual counseling sessions with patients and significant others, as needed.
- Design, develop, and implement educational sessions.
- Participate in updating and summarizing treatment plans at clinical staffing.
- Make appropriate entries in the clinical records to document ongoing progress of patients.
- Conduct appropriate referral and plans for discharge and aftercare.
- Conduct orientation with assigned patients and document in the appropriate area of the patient record.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1 year of experience in the substance abuse field.
- Associate's degree preferred.
- South Dakota Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor CCDC Level I (minimum).
