About the position
The Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at Delaware County Community College is a part-time, contracted position responsible for assisting the Head Coach in overseeing the Men's Basketball program. This role involves planning, directing, and supervising various aspects of the program to ensure its competitiveness and success, while also supporting student-athlete development and compliance with relevant regulations.
Responsibilities
- Assist in providing vision, leadership, organization, and supervision for all facets of the men's basketball program.
- Create an atmosphere of compliance with NJCAA and Region 19 conference policies, rules, and regulations.
- Assist the head coach in teaching and demonstrating specific basketball skills.
- Help recruit, train, and coach student-athletes, serving as a mentor and leader.
- Support student-athlete academics and athletic excellence, leadership development, and community service.
- Provide administrative oversight for team travel, practice scheduling, competition scheduling, game management, fundraising, and monitoring academic progress.
- Engage in effective communications to support relationships with student athletes, families, alumni, and friends.
- Demonstrate a commitment to Title IX and gender equity plans.
- Engage in professional development opportunities and perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate degree from an accredited college or university (Bachelor's degree preferred).
- 3-5 years of previous basketball coaching experience at high school, AAU, or college level.
- Previous coaching experience at two-year or four-year college level preferred.
- Knowledge of NJCAA rules and regulations is a plus.
- Experience as a former athlete in a basketball program at high school or college level is a plus.
