About the position

Sinclair Community College is seeking part-time (adjunct) faculty to teach Mental Health and Addiction Services courses at various correctional institutions. The role involves planning and organizing instruction to enhance student learning, utilizing appropriate teaching strategies, and maintaining accurate records of student progress. Faculty will work closely with the MHAS AJT Coordinator to ensure course content aligns with departmental policies and effectively meets the needs of a diverse student population.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and organize instruction to maximize student learning.
  • Distribute syllabi for all assigned sections in accordance with department and divisional policies.
  • Communicate course expectations with students.
  • Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies, using instructional technology when appropriate.
  • Modify instructional methods to meet diverse student needs.
  • Support classroom and online efforts to promote student success.
  • Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress.
  • Submit final grade rosters according to established deadlines.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a master's degree in the content area or related field is required.
  • Knowledge of local community mental health and addiction service agencies is required.
  • Evidence of successful prior teaching experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to improving student learning through innovative strategies is preferred.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Demonstrated skills in using modern educational technology, including multimedia-based instruction, are required.
  • Ability to pass a DRC background check is required.
