About the position
The Mental Health Associate at Saint Clare's Health plays a crucial role in supporting the licensed nursing staff in providing comprehensive care to patients in an inpatient setting. This position involves performing therapeutic interventions, assisting with daily living activities, and ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment for patients. The associate will work closely with the interdisciplinary care team to communicate patient information and monitor progress throughout treatment.
Responsibilities
- Assist licensed nursing staff in providing and documenting patient care.
- Perform therapeutic interventions such as group therapy and one-on-one counseling.
- Support unit functions and maintain a safe, therapeutic environment.
- Communicate pertinent patient information to the supervising RN.
- Perform clerical duties as assigned and provide basic nursing care.
- Utilize education to provide designated group modality to patients.
- Provide emotional support to patients during difficult times.
- Monitor patients' progress throughout treatment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree Required
- Current BCLS (AHA) certification within 30 days of hire
- Behavioral Violence Prevention training within 6 months of hire
- One (1) year prior mental health experience preferred
- Familiarity with medical and psychological terminology preferred
