About The Position

The Mental Health Clinician at Georgia Tech will provide mental health and performance services to student-athletes, offering individual counseling, crisis intervention, and case management. This role involves collaboration with coaches and the athletic medicine team, as well as outreach programming to enhance the mental well-being of student-athletes. The clinician will also supervise interns and assist in administrative duties, ensuring a comprehensive support system for the athletic community.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy or related mental health field.
  • Currently licensed in professional discipline in Georgia or able to obtain a Georgia license within one year.
  • Two to three years of job-related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Fully licensed in the discipline of professional counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, or other qualified discipline (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, etc.).
  • Experience working with a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I student-athlete population.
  • Certified Mental Performance Consultant via Association for Applied Sport Psychology.
  • PsyD or PhD in Psychology or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Provide initial screenings/intakes/assessments and individual counseling.
  • Provide individual performance enhancement counseling to student-athletes.
  • Maintain thorough clinical documentation.
  • Provide crisis intervention and management.
  • Provide outreach programming to student-athletes and staff.
  • Complete relevant administration duties such as policy creation and meeting attendance.
  • Provide team psychoeducational sessions on performance enhancement and mental well-being topics.
  • Meet with new and returning student-athletes during pre-participation physicals to assess mental health functioning.
  • Work within an interdisciplinary medical team, consulting with various health professionals.
  • Serve as the lead sport psychology provider for several sports teams, attending competitions and practices.
