About the position

The Mental Health Clinician at UTMB Health is responsible for providing mental health evaluations and therapeutic interventions to patients within the correctional system. This role involves working under the supervision of a Psychologist, Mental Health Manager, or Program Director, and contributes to the overall success of the Correctional Managed Care operation by addressing the mental health needs of underserved populations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct interviews, evaluations, and diagnoses of patients with mental health needs.
  • Provide individual and group psychotherapy and crisis intervention.
  • Develop, implement, and review Individual Treatment Plans for patients.
  • Assist in training and educating mental health, medical, and other staff.
  • Implement Quality Improvement/Quality Management (QI/QM) programs and monitor compliance with policies and standards.
  • Provide routine consultation and communication with supervisors and psychiatric providers regarding patient status.
  • Complete clinically appropriate and timely documentation of patient interactions.
  • Liaise with patients, families, on-site departments, and community agencies to coordinate treatment and aftercare services.
  • Adhere to internal controls and reporting structures established for the department.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Professional Counselor, Psychological Associate, or Social Worker.
