About the position

The Licensed Mental Health Clinician position at The REST Center in New Haven, CT, involves providing innovative, community-based mental health services in a 23-hour crisis stabilization home. This role allows clinicians to work creatively and autonomously in a recovery-oriented environment, serving as an alternative to emergency department care for individuals in crisis. Clinicians will conduct screenings, provide direct clinical services, and coordinate care for clients with mental health, intellectual, and addiction disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Completes screenings and intake process for new client referrals.
  • Functions as a liaison for incoming referrals with clinical and external providers.
  • Conducts ongoing face-to-face encounters while providing comprehensive planning and active supports based on unique needs of each individual.
  • Completes, submits, and monitors records based on fidelity, federal funding, or other contracting requirements.
  • Seeks and obtains preauthorization and reauthorization of services.
  • Networks with area community providers and provides case management supports for the benefit of the clients.
  • Provides a comprehensive array of direct clinical services to adults and families with mental health, intellectual and/or addiction disorders.
  • Counsels and provides psychotherapeutic and rehabilitation services in individual and group settings to facilitate independence with identified treatment goals toward symptom management.
  • Carries a clinical case load as assigned, coordinates services, including assessments and triage of clients.

Requirements

  • Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) with a minimum of one (1) year experience working in the behavioral health field required.
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a minimum of one (1) year experience working in the behavioral health field preferred.
  • Prior experience working with people with severe and persistent mental illness, intellectual disabilities, and/or addiction.
  • Valid Driver's license with clean record is required and must be maintained.
  • Proficient computer skills required, including Microsoft Office and electronic record keeping.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of the community support system and resources is preferred.
  • First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
