About the position

The position involves providing psychiatric care to adult, adolescent, and child patients under the supervision of the Charge Nurse. The role focuses on planning and implementing milieu treatment, ensuring quality and safe delivery of care, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to meet therapeutic goals.

Responsibilities

• Function as a milieu therapist to assigned patients, collaborating with the nurse therapist to determine a milieu treatment approach.
• Administer initial psychological assessments and provide consistent individual counseling focused on treatment goals during hospitalization.
• Participate in milieu therapy for patients on an individual or group basis, leading or assisting in milieu groups.
• Collaborate with unit staff in assessing and evaluating patients' mental status and maintain therapeutic relationships.
• Coordinate and implement various aspects of the milieu environment to provide a therapeutic experience for patients.
• Provide supportive care to patients, assisting with daily living activities and encouraging appropriate interactions.
• Record all appropriate information on patient charts and prepare regular reports on patients' mental status and functioning.
• Provide support and education to family members regarding the patient's status and participate in discharge planning.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in psychology or a related field preferred.
• Bilingual preferred (Spanish/English).
• BLS required.
