About the position

The Mental Health Counselor/Clinician II position at Compass Health involves providing specialized crisis intervention and short-term treatment services to adults and older adults experiencing acute behavioral health crises. The role focuses on crisis stabilization within the least restrictive setting, assessing client needs, and developing tailored care plans in collaboration with clients and treatment teams. This position is part of the Whatcom County Triage Program, which offers crisis stabilization and emergency services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized crisis intervention and short-term treatment services to adults and older adults in crisis.
  • Assess client functioning and needs to develop individualized care plans.
  • Collaborate with clients and treatment teams to promote recovery and stabilization.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client interactions and treatment plans.
  • Work effectively with individuals with complex needs and multi-system involvement.

Requirements

  • MA/MS/MSW Degree in a Behavioral Science related field.
  • Qualifies as a Mental Health Professional (MHP) as defined by WAC.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Evidence-Based Practices, or willingness to learn.
  • Current First Aid & CPR certification and Food Handlers permit, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • Ability to maintain a positive, solution-focused demeanor in conflicts or problems.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including keyboarding skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to utilize an electronic medical record for collaborative clinical documentation.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment criminal background check.
