About the position

The Mental Health Counselor position is a community-based role focused on providing psychological assessment, diagnostic, therapeutic, and case management services to residents of the Pueblo of San Felipe. The counselor will work under the guidance of the Behavioral Health Director and may also provide training and guidance to other clinicians and paraprofessional staff. This role is essential for meeting the goals and objectives of the Pueblo's administration and federal grant requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provides counseling and individual psychotherapy to patients and/or families as appropriate.
• Prepares assessments, treatment plans, discharge plans, and follow-up care.
• Conducts case management and coordination of care as needed.
• Provides therapeutic crisis intervention and emergency services.
• Collects information about patients through interviews, assessments, and psychological testing.
• Evaluates information to identify causes of presenting problems and determines proper therapeutic approaches.
• Manages a caseload and prepares individualized services for outpatient and inpatient placements.
• Arranges for therapeutic interventions for patients in crisis situations.
• Consults with other therapists and related professionals, referring patients to service agencies as appropriate.
• Leads paraprofessionals in the performance of clinical duties.
• Coordinates care with other departments and outside agencies as necessary.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a directly related field.
• At least two years of directly related experience, including internship and/or practicum.
• New Mexico licensure as LPCC, LPC, LMHC, LMSW, LCSW, or equivalent level.
• Valid driver's license.

• Keres-speaking appreciated or ability to work effectively in a multi-lingual environment.
