About the position

The Mental Health Professional (MHP) position at the Gadsden Correctional Facility in Quincy, Florida, is a PRN role focused on providing compassionate mental health care to residents. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in counseling, clinical social work, or psychology, and will be responsible for conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and offering both individual and group counseling to support the emotional and mental well-being of clients.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement treatment and therapeutic programs for assigned clients.
• Assume independent clinical responsibility for all clients, applying crisis intervention techniques including suicide prevention.
• Conduct diagnosis and evaluation tests for clients to determine needs and establish goals.
• Provide direct casework services and individual and group counseling to clients.
• Prepare progress reports and provide recommendations regarding treatment plans.
• Maintain and monitor confidentiality of clients and their files; audit files to ensure documentation of services provided.
• Screen requests for non-medical records and approve or disapprove responses according to policy.
• Attend seminars, workshops, and conferences as required.
• Maintain current CPR certification and perform CPR in emergencies.
• Serve in rotation with other mental health providers for after-hours and weekend client care.
• Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors.

Requirements

• Master's degree in marriage and family therapy, clinical social work, counseling, or psychology required.
• Current Florida practice license or less than one year of completion of licensure required.
• Two years previous work experience preferred.
• Current CPR certification is required.
• Valid driver's license in the state of Florida with an acceptable driving record required.
