About the position

The Mental Health Ministry Education Program Manager at the Diocese of Phoenix is responsible for supporting the diocese's mission by providing mental health awareness programs and resources. This role focuses on education, accompaniment, and advocacy related to mental health, aiming to create pastoral environments for individuals living with mental illness and their caregivers. The position involves collaboration with various diocesan offices and community partners to develop training, resources, and a network of support for mental health initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of the mental health awareness strategic plan and goals.
  • Develop and maintain a Mental Health Ministry Network consisting of trained ministry leaders in parishes.
  • Create and maintain a Diocesan Therapists Referral Network for clergy, religious, and laity.
  • Develop training and formation opportunities for clergy, religious, and laity on mental health literacy.
  • Serve as a Mental Health First Aid Certified Trainer and oversee class schedules.
  • Develop a mental health education resource/toolbox.
  • Communicate effectively with clergy, religious, parishes, and other diocesan departments regarding mental health initiatives.
  • Serve on Diocesan related committees and working groups as assigned.
  • Develop and implement the diocesan mental health advisory board.
  • Manage the education component of the implementation of the Well with the Director of Mental Health Ministry.
  • Develop mental health ministry resources in parallel with English resources.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience in public speaking.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
  • Familiarity with community support systems and health care policies.
  • Self-motivated with a professional demeanor.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software programs.
  • Ability to complete Mental Health Minister Training and Mental Health First Aid.
  • Flexibility in days and hours available for scheduled work.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
  • Experience in a professional office environment for a minimum of three years.
