About the position

The Mental Health Professional at Washtenaw County Health Department is responsible for providing a range of direct and indirect mental health services to youth with severe emotional disturbances and their families. This role involves developing and maintaining Family Centered Plans, coordinating client services, and utilizing evidence-based practices to assist families in achieving desired outcomes. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure comprehensive care and support for clients.

Responsibilities

  • Provide mental health services to youth and families using various clinical modalities including family centered therapy, individual, and group therapies, as well as crisis interventions.
  • Complete comprehensive Biopsycho-social assessments and participate in the development and maintenance of Family Centered Plans (FCP).
  • Monitor and coordinate service delivery to clients/families as specified in the FCP.
  • Assist families in identifying and linking to needed services and community resources.
  • Maintain complete and detailed records consistent with agency standards and requirements of third-party funding and accreditation agencies.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Clinical or Behavioral Psychology, or Counseling.
  • 1-2 years of child/family specific experience.
  • State of Michigan certification: LLMSW, LMSW, LLP, or LLCP.
  • Knowledge of DSM-V and mental health interventions for youth and families.
  • Ability to manage crisis situations and provide culturally competent services.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with youth with developmental disabilities.
  • Knowledge of Michigan Mental Health Code and Recipient Rights.
  • Familiarity with community resources and supports for youth and families.
