About the position

The Mental Health Skills Trainer position at Marion County involves providing skills training and case management to adults diagnosed with serious and persistent mental illnesses. The role focuses on motivating individuals in their recovery journey, enhancing their independence, and connecting them with community resources. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with a team to deliver person-centered, recovery-oriented services, ensuring that clients receive the support they need to integrate into the community.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group recreational, social, and skills training services under a professionally developed service plan.
  • Assist and support other mental health professionals without primary responsibility for a caseload.
  • Deliver behavioral health services to adults with serious and persistent mental health conditions and co-occurring substance use disorders.
  • Facilitate skills training groups and transport individuals to appointments and resource linkage.
  • Provide treatment plan directed case management to assist individuals in accessing community services, supports, and housing.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with Federal, State, County, and treatment program requirements.
  • Participate fully as a supportive, reliable, positive, collaborative, and professional team member during treatment planning and crisis intervention.

Requirements

  • Three years relevant work experience in a behavioral health services field; OR Bachelor's degree in a behavioral science field; OR any satisfactory combination of work, education, training or experience relevant to the position.
  • Must possess a current Mental Health & Addiction Certification Board of Oregon (MHACBO) Qualified Mental Health Associate certification (QMHA) or register within ninety (90) days of hire.
  • Must possess a current driver's license in the applicant's state of residence and an acceptable driving history.
