About the position

The Mental Health Specialist II at Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care is responsible for providing support and services to clients of the 988 Lifeline Services. This role involves assessing client needs through various communication channels, offering appropriate referrals, and ensuring a client-friendly service experience. The specialist will model effective communication and coping skills, assist clients in setting recovery goals, and maintain relationships to monitor clients' emotional and behavioral changes.

Responsibilities

  • Model good communication skills and recovery-oriented living skills for clients.
  • Assist clients in identifying personal recovery goals and setting objectives.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients to monitor emotional, psychiatric, or behavioral changes.
  • Participate in ensuring all service requests are handled effectively and client-friendly.
  • Assess service requests and respond according to prescribed procedures.
  • Assess client's condition to make appropriate dispositions.
  • Complete all requests and documentation for disposition.
  • Familiarize with other providers and resources to facilitate client interactions.

Requirements

  • Four years of full-time paid experience in a mental health or human service field.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant mental health or human service field.
