About the position

The Mental Health Specialist II position at Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC) involves providing support and services to clients of the 988 Lifeline Services. The role focuses on assessing client needs, offering therapeutic interactions, and facilitating recovery-oriented living skills. The specialist will work with clients to identify personal recovery goals and advocate for appropriate resources, ensuring a customer-friendly approach to mental health support.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with clients in a therapeutic manner.
  • Model good communication skills and recovery-oriented living skills for clients.
  • Assist clients in identifying personal recovery goals and setting objectives.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients to monitor emotional, psychiatric, or behavioral changes.
  • Help clients address problems effectively and refer them to appropriate clinical staff as needed.
  • Advocate for appropriate resources based on assessed client needs.

Requirements

  • Four years of full-time paid experience in a mental health or human service field, or a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
