About the position

The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Talk Manager oversees the WWP Talk Program, which provides telephonic, short-term emotional support to wounded service members and their families. This role involves managing a team, ensuring effective training, monitoring performance, and promoting a supportive work environment to enhance the psychological well-being of participants.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of WWP Talk staff members, mentoring and developing their skills.
  • Oversee execution of initial and ongoing training for Talk program teammates.
  • Support WWP Talk Director with training content development and evaluate the training program's effectiveness.
  • Ensure effective workload planning and work schedules that support organizational objectives.
  • Monitor team performance and prepare statistical reports with performance metrics.
  • Promote a supportive working environment for proactive problem-solving.
  • Establish effective working relationships with WWP teammates.
  • Plan and manage program services delivered to Talk program participants.
  • Evaluate the WWP Talk program and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant technologies and best practices.
  • Participate in strategic planning activities and manage the department budget.

Requirements

  • Four years of experience working with military and veteran populations.
  • Three years of experience providing support to wounded service members dealing with health issues.
  • Three years of staff management experience.
  • Three years of experience in programmatic positions or program development may substitute for staff management experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Three years of mental health case management experience.
