About the position

The Mental Health Technician at KidsPeace is responsible for providing direct supervision and support to emotionally and behaviorally challenged children and adolescents. This role emphasizes a compassionate approach, ensuring the safety and well-being of the children in care while fostering trusting relationships to facilitate individualized treatment and programming.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision and direction to children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral challenges.
  • Ensure the safety of all children in care by being aware of ongoing developments and concerns.
  • Distinguish between discipline and punishment, recognizing the underlying needs of children.
  • Build trusting and supportive relationships with children to aid in their treatment and programming.
  • Implement individualized treatment plans and unit programming as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mental Health or related field preferred.
  • Experience with acute emotionally challenged children or adolescents preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications required (can be trained internally post-hire).
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Basic personal computer knowledge and skills required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in a mental health setting with children or adolescents.
