About the position

The Mental Health Technician I (MH Tech 1) plays a crucial role in supporting patients throughout their treatment journey at Discovery Mood & Anxiety Program. This full-time position involves ensuring patient safety, facilitating therapeutic groups, and providing essential support to patients as they navigate their treatment process. The technician is responsible for monitoring patients, leading psychoeducational groups, and maintaining a positive and structured environment conducive to recovery.

Responsibilities

• Orients new patients to the treatment program, its requirements, intent, and routine.
• Completes needed assessments within 24 hours of admission.
• Determines special needs of new patients and communicates those needs to the treatment team.
• Monitors all patients throughout their treatment experience, ensuring they are in sight and checking on them regularly.
• Serves as a positive role model and demonstrates professionalism and care towards patients and co-workers.
• Facilitates treatment plans by providing daily support to patients and helping them engage in positive coping skills.
• Directs patients clearly and informatively, following house rules and group schedules.
• Runs and engages patients in therapeutic groups such as coping skills, relapse prevention, and psychoeducation.
• Documents patient behaviors in the milieu thoroughly and appropriately.
• Maintains a clean environment and completes required cleaning tasks during shifts.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor's degree or one year of experience working with mental health or adolescents preferred.
• Must possess a valid Driver's License in good standing.
• Must be CPI and CPR/First Aid certified within 90 days of employment.
• Must attend all training, education, and staff enrichment activities.
