About the position

The position involves representing the Social Work Program within the Social Work Department and collaborating with the Hidden Garden Program. The role focuses on contributing to a patient-centered vision, developing policies and procedures, establishing infrastructure, applying evidence-based practices, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Responsibilities include performing various job duties such as prevention, case management, assessment, and treatment planning. The position requires providing direct clinical services to PWHS patients, which includes administering biopsychosocial intake assessments, conducting diagnostic screenings, and offering individual, family, and group therapy, along with external referrals for mental health disorders as needed. Crisis intervention is also a key component of the role, assisting clients and families in addressing emotional and behavioral health needs related to mental health issues, substance use disorders, physical health issues, and psychosocial stressors, while encouraging compliance with treatment recommendations. Documentation of clinical encounters must adhere to agency and licensing guidelines to support patient care and billing practices. Compliance with the Department of Social Work's policies and procedures, as well as all applicable laws and regulations, is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the Social Work Program within the Social Work Department.

Requirements

  • Must have a current social work license to practice within the State of Maryland (LMSW, LCSW, or LSWC).
  • Must have clinical knowledge of factors associated with mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Ability to comprehensively assess emotional, mental, physical, and social functioning using evidence-based tools.
  • Demonstrate understanding of clinical issues, including ethics, values, standards, policies, and practices of integrated behavioral health programs.
  • Ability to communicate and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Interpersonal skills to develop rapport and effectively work with persons/families with mental health disorders.
  • Knowledge of community resources and ability to research and locate new resources.
  • Knowledge of culturally sensitive language and trauma-informed care.
  • Ability to work independently and practice critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Skilled in addressing crises in a flexible and patient manner.
