About the position
The Mental Health Therapist position at Optum involves providing mental, behavioral, and psychological treatment services to patients. This role is integral to the Optum Behavioral Care Team, focusing on improving healthcare delivery through compassionate care and innovative solutions. Therapists will work with individuals and groups, utilizing various treatment methodologies to address the physical, mental, and social needs of patients, ultimately enhancing their health and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Provide mental, behavioral, and psychological treatment services to patients in individual or group settings, both virtually and in person.
- Conduct assessments or evaluations for mental health disorders and develop, review, and implement comprehensive treatment plans.
- Assist patients and their families in changing behaviors and accessing interpersonal, family, and community resources for health management.
- Provide community education and consultation to staff and other healthcare professionals on methods to help patients overcome barriers to health and well-being.
Requirements
- Master's degree in psychology, social work, or a related counseling field.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with couples or family counseling.
- Experience with children or adolescents.
- Experience with health psychology.
- Experience working with computers for professional communication and medical documentation, including Excel, Outlook, and EHRs like Athena RMS.
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
