About the position
The Mental Health Coordinator at CoreCivic is responsible for planning and providing clinical mental health services of a non-medical nature within a correctional facility. This role involves conducting mental health screenings, developing treatment plans, and providing counseling and crisis interventions to inmates, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to psychological counseling standards.
Responsibilities
- Conduct mental health screenings and assessments based on available records and clinical interviews with inmates.
- Develop, implement, and modify individual treatment plans based on evaluations of needs and levels of functioning.
- Document treatment and evaluation activities in the health care record for each inmate seen.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive materials and information at all times.
- Demonstrate knowledge of psychological counseling theory and techniques through treatments and activities used for individuals in caseload.
- Provide appropriate mental health assessments, counseling, and crisis interventions to address the needs of inmates.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, or a related clinical area from an accredited college or university.
- Five years of clinical experience, including two years in a comparable job position.
- Possess appropriate certification or licensing in the state of practice (e.g., LPC, LCSW, or LMFTA).
- Valid driver's license preferred unless required by contract or applicable statute.
- Minimum age requirement of at least 18 years.
