The State of New Hampshire is seeking dedicated individuals for the position of Mental Health Worker I-II at the New Hampshire Hospital. The first three weeks of orientation will occur Monday through Friday, with hours from 7:45 AM to 4:15 PM or 6:45 AM to 3:15 PM, while the fourth week will focus on clinical experience during the hired shift. As a Mental Health Worker I, you will assist in various tasks such as patient admissions, searching for contraband, and orienting patients to the hospital environment. You will also be responsible for monitoring patient behavior, reporting significant changes to nursing staff, and ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment. The role requires effective communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and the physical capability to manage patient care needs, including the potential for physical restraint when necessary. For those at the Mental Health Worker II level, additional responsibilities include planning activities for patients, contributing to treatment processes, and participating in quality improvement initiatives. This position requires at least one year of experience in a psychiatric facility or a related field, along with the ability to maintain patient confidentiality and provide a supportive environment for individuals with mental health challenges. Both levels of the position emphasize the importance of customer service and maintaining a professional demeanor in all interactions with patients and staff.
