About the position

The Mental Health Worker position at Sheppard Pratt involves working under the supervision of a licensed nurse to assess and address the needs of patients in an inpatient setting. This role is crucial for planning and evaluating patient care based on individual behaviors and conditions. The position offers flexible scheduling options, including 8- and 12-hour shifts, and is part of a multi-disciplinary team dedicated to improving patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning and evaluation of patient needs based on individual behaviors and conditions.
  • Work closely with a licensed nurse to provide direct care to patients.
  • Participate in extended clinical orientation and training provided by the Clinical Education Department.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplined team to support patient care.
  • Ensure availability to work every other weekend.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • An advanced degree in a human services field is strongly preferred, either in progress or already obtained.
  • Past direct care or related experience is strongly preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a healthcare or mental health setting.
  • Certification in CPR or First Aid.
