The Mental Health Worker position at Natchaug Hospital involves providing direct behavioral health patient care within the Behavioral Health Network. The role is crucial in supporting the health and well-being of patients, with opportunities available for various shifts and hours, including full-time, part-time, and per diem. The position emphasizes the importance of establishing therapeutic relationships and ensuring patient safety while delivering individualized care.

Responsibilities

  • Interacts with clients considering their age-related, educational, developmental, and psychiatric needs.
  • Provides or assists with direct patient care, diagnostic procedures, and therapeutic interventions.
  • Observes and records patient behavior and activities, reporting any changes in condition and suggesting modifications to the treatment plan.
  • Establishes a therapeutic relationship with assigned patients.
  • Reviews assignments with supervising RN, seeking clarification when unsure of expectations.
  • Maintains open communication with teammates regarding progress on completion of assignments.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide timely and individualized care to behavioral health patients.
  • In some programs, provides transportation for students to/from the program or other activities.
  • Ensures patient safety to prevent injury.
  • Leads and co-leads client meetings.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 years related experience required.
  • Previous experience with behavioral health clients preferred.
  • Some positions require a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Some positions require the ability to obtain a Public Service License 'A' Endorsement within 90 days of hire, which requires passing a pre-hire drug screen and DOT physical exam.
