About the position
The Mental Health Worker position at Natchaug Hospital involves providing direct behavioral health patient care within the Behavioral Health Network. The role is crucial in supporting the health and well-being of patients, with opportunities available for various shifts and hours, including full-time, part-time, and per diem. The position emphasizes the importance of establishing therapeutic relationships and ensuring patient safety while delivering individualized care.
Responsibilities
- Interacts with clients considering their age-related, educational, developmental, and psychiatric needs.
- Provides or assists with direct patient care, diagnostic procedures, and therapeutic interventions.
- Observes and records patient behavior and activities, reporting any changes in condition and suggesting modifications to the treatment plan.
- Establishes a therapeutic relationship with assigned patients.
- Reviews assignments with supervising RN, seeking clarification when unsure of expectations.
- Maintains open communication with teammates regarding progress on completion of assignments.
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide timely and individualized care to behavioral health patients.
- In some programs, provides transportation for students to/from the program or other activities.
- Ensures patient safety to prevent injury.
- Leads and co-leads client meetings.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2 years related experience required.
- Previous experience with behavioral health clients preferred.
- Some positions require a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Some positions require the ability to obtain a Public Service License 'A' Endorsement within 90 days of hire, which requires passing a pre-hire drug screen and DOT physical exam.
