About the position

The Mentor-Coach position focuses on mentoring and coaching student-athletes aged 5-13 in various sports, including flag football, soccer, basketball, and cheer. The role emphasizes character development, academic monitoring, and fostering a positive environment for youth through sports and activities.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a positive role model and mentor for youth, demonstrating core values and character development principles.
  • Collaborate with staff to plan and facilitate age-appropriate activities and workshops.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students during activities, addressing any safety concerns promptly.
  • Promote respectful behavior and conflict resolution skills among students, addressing behavioral issues constructively.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, and staff about activities and schedules.

Requirements

  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • CPR Certification
  • First Aid Certification
  • Experience in sports coaching
  • Experience working with children
  • Social work experience
  • Conflict management skills
  • Physical education or teaching experience

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in gymnastics
  • 1 year of experience with children (preferred)
