MOKA is seeking part-time Mentors to work in our Community Supports Programs in Kent County. The Mentor plays a crucial role in supporting individuals with disabilities by assisting them in achieving their predetermined goals as outlined in their Individual Plan of Service. This position involves mentoring, skill building, training, advocacy, and providing support in general living skills. The work schedule is Monday through Friday during the first shift, allowing weekends off, which is ideal for those seeking a balanced work-life schedule. The starting pay for this position is $16.15 per hour, and the role is designed to be flexible to accommodate the needs of both the employees and the individuals they support. As a Mentor, you will monitor, train, advocate, and assist individuals with disabilities in meeting their goals within the community, their homes, or designated launch pads. You will participate in person-centered planning by contributing to the pre-planning process and attending planning meetings as needed. Building relationships with community resource agencies and employers is essential, as you will inform them about the benefits of engaging with individuals with disabilities. Facilitating strong peer-group support and encouraging positive relationships between individuals and employers are key aspects of this role. Additionally, you will assist individuals in accessing volunteer and job sites that align with their interests and plans. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the safety and well-being of those you support, reporting any incidents as required, and transporting individuals to various appointments and activities. You will also develop social and recreational activities, maintain accurate records of progress, and communicate effectively with MOKA management and the support team regarding the individuals' activities and progress. This role requires a professional demeanor in all interactions and a commitment to attending necessary meetings and training sessions.
