About the position

The Electrical Engineer/Designer will work collaboratively with staff to produce precise technical drawings and contribute to the design process within an MEP Engineering firm. This role focuses on designing systems for various sectors including business, retail, housing, education, and entertainment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform calculations and design engineering systems with a high degree of independence.
  • Prepare basic to advanced electrical system layouts, detailed drawings, and schematics.
  • Coordinate design requirements and decisions with other disciplines, BIM department, and project management.
  • Conduct research and make recommendations regarding the feasibility of systems or equipment, evaluating products for their application.
  • Attend client meetings with project managers and senior staff to build relationships with staff and clients.
  • Assist with or oversee project coordination tasks, including managing emails, coordinating scope and schedule, ensuring project quality, addressing client inquiries, and facilitating project delivery.
  • Participate in project retrospectives and continuous improvement activities.
  • Travel as required for site surveys and field inspections, either independently or with less senior staff.
  • Serve as a point of reference for training or providing assistance to others as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience preferred, or 10 years of experience without a degree.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Revit and Bluebeam Revu.
  • Strong understanding of local codes and amendments, with the ability to interpret and apply the codes towards system design and calculations.
  • Strong familiarity with building structures, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems and how they interact.
  • Intermediate knowledge and proficiency in engineering design.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering and 10 years of relevant experience, or 12 years of experience without a degree.
  • Strong knowledge and proficiency in engineering design.
