About the position

As an MEP Engineer at Turner Construction Company, you will play a crucial role in managing, evaluating, and assessing information related to Mechanical and Electrical systems necessary for the successful construction of projects. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the quality specified by the contract documents. You will lead the Turner project team, subcontractors, and owner's consultants to ensure optimal alignment and efficient systems installation. This position requires a strong technical background in mechanical and electrical systems, as well as excellent leadership and communication skills. In this role, you will prepare and manage the contract item's list for all components, materials, and systems, ensuring compliance with project schedules and approval statuses. You will participate in schedule update meetings, evaluate and manage the processing of Requests for Information (RFIs), and oversee the budget, including the review and negotiation of change orders. Additionally, you will supervise, coach, and mentor Assistant MEP Engineers, co-leading the MEP Coordination Process with the VDC Engineer to ensure compliance with design requirements and quality standards. Your responsibilities will also include preparing scope of work documents, partnering with the MEP Superintendent to resolve conflicts between mechanical and electrical systems, and co-leading the overall turnover process, including start-up, testing, commissioning, and closeout. Regular project walkthroughs with the MEP staff will be essential to ensure that work is proceeding according to contract documents and approved submittals. You will also manage and secure all necessary municipal and agency documentation for temporary certificates of information and system operation, and create and implement a quality control plan with the MEP Superintendent.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, evaluate, and assess information related to Mechanical and Electrical systems necessary for project construction.
  • Lead the Turner project team, subcontractors, and owner's consultants to ensure optimal alignment and efficient systems installation.
  • Prepare and manage the contract item's list for all components, materials, and systems to ensure compliance with project schedules.
  • Participate in schedule update meetings and provide the latest information for an informed and accurate schedule.
  • Evaluate and manage the processing of RFIs.
  • Manage the budget, including review, evaluation, and negotiation of change orders.
  • Supervise, coach, and mentor Assistant MEP Engineers.
  • Co-lead the MEP Coordination Process with the VDC Engineer to ensure compliance with design requirements and quality standards.
  • Prepare scope of work documents with a division of responsibility for trades and specific scopes of work for temporary operations.
  • Partner with the MEP Superintendent to resolve conflicts between mechanical and electrical systems and the site logistics plan.
  • Co-lead the overall turnover process including start-up, testing, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Conduct regular project walkthroughs with the MEP staff to ensure compliance with contract documents and approved submittals.
  • Identify and inform field staff of difficult installation requirements in sufficient time for proper planning and execution.
  • Manage and secure all municipal and agency documentation required for temporary certificates of information and system operation.
  • Create and implement the quality control plan with the MEP Superintendent.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum of four years of relevant engineering experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience relating to mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Technical expertise and understanding of all mechanical and electrical systems that support various project types.
  • Business acumen to plan, manage, and execute essential duties effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational ability and proficiency with computer applications.
  • Demonstrated leadership attributes to encourage the development of a high-performing team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in construction project management.
