About the position

H2M architects + engineers is seeking a project-level Mechanical Engineer to join their Melville, NY office. The role focuses on mechanical engineering design, particularly in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, while collaborating with a multi-disciplined team of architects, engineers, and environmental scientists. The position emphasizes project management, client interaction, and technical leadership, ensuring high-quality delivery of project requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Project supervision and coordination with other engineering and architecture departments within the firm.
  • Preparation of construction drawings and specifications for public and private bidding.
  • Direct communication and follow up with clients in support and coordination of all project related activities.
  • Technical leadership, production and scheduling, quality control and cost proposals.
  • Responsible for the on-time, on budget and high quality technical delivery of all project requirements.
  • Management/Supervision of junior level staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer license preferred.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of HVAC design experience.
  • At least 3 years of project management experience in a consulting firm or related environment.
  • Experience with local municipalities and government agencies is a plus.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership experience, overseeing a project and working with clients.
  • Ability to mentor/supervise junior level staff.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a consulting engineering firm designing HVAC systems.
