About the position

The Merchandise Analyst plays a crucial role in optimizing product flow from the time of purchase through the supply chain. Reporting to the Merchandise Planner, this position is responsible for inventory management and allocation strategies to ensure that products are available in the right stores at the right time. The analyst will provide inventory reporting and analysis to support business initiatives, identify opportunities and risks, and drive results for the Merchandising department. This role requires collaboration with the Merchandising leadership team to enhance operational and financial performance.

Responsibilities

  • Drive sales and margin through inventory management for various merchandise categories.
  • Build, develop, execute, and maintain allocation strategies for maximum sell-through and profitability.
  • Analyze item and program productivity to meet store turn and weeks of supply goals; create tiered assortments for pre-buy strategies.
  • Manage execution of initial and replenishment allocations by store to optimize sales, margin, and inventory turn.
  • Analyze store inventory at the style/size level, identifying over and under performers, out of stocks, and opportunities; provide suggestions to Planners and Buyers.
  • Develop and rescale models based on sales trends, opportunities, size optimization, and inventory availability.
  • Plan assortments for new or remodeled store openings and create models to maximize sales plans.
  • Analyze and monitor new store business to ensure sufficient inventory levels post-opening.
  • Maintain replenishment parameters in the Imagine system.
  • Manage clearance store assortment and end-of-season consolidations with stores.
  • Participate in the development and roll-out of technology advancements and process improvements.
  • Build effective cross-functional relationships and influence business decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related field.
  • 3 - 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in shoe retail.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to effectively influence and negotiate.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with strong time management skills.
  • Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Suite.
  • Ability to travel up to 5%.
