About the position

The Merchandise Assortment Planner at Lowe's serves as a category analyst and consultant for the Assortment Planning team, focusing on analytics and support throughout the assortment lifecycle. This role involves managing the planning process from initial meetings to post-review deliverables, ensuring alignment with merchant, customer, and shareholder expectations. The planner will provide insights, manage project analytics, and support ad hoc analysis to enhance assortment planning and category management.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct PLR/BR process analysis and support the end-to-end planning process including pre-coordination sessions and assortment kickoff meetings.
  • Synthesize category management analytics into actionable opportunities for merchandising.
  • Manage assortment plan development, including eligibility, product review, and demand forecasting.
  • Analyze enterprise portfolio opportunities related to category roles, localization, and assortment productivity.
  • Utilize the Assortment Optimization tool to determine item/store cluster assortments.
  • Collaborate with Merchants and Senior Planners to understand category management decisions and lead evaluations of store clustering and assortment selection.
  • Identify assortment planning opportunities within the planning tool and reporting outputs, influencing better configuration options.
  • Collaborate with Senior Planners and Merchants to interpret AO recommendations and develop plans for new items.
  • Translate opportunities and vision across various business areas to ensure successful integration.
  • Link Assortment Planning tool results to the overall PLR/BR business process.
  • Assist with presentations to corporate management as needed.
  • Serve as project management support for Full Line Reviews, including data preparation and communication to meet PLR dates.
  • Plan and schedule Line Review meetings related to non-vendor presentations.
  • Provide reporting on the status and activities of the PLR.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Statistics, Finance, or a related field.
  • Up to 1 year of experience in merchandising, assortment planning, finance, or related work experience.
  • Experience working in a retail environment.
  • Experience with assortment and/or merchandising planning processes.
  • Experience executing project plans in a cross-functional environment.
  • Experience with retail assortment store clustering.
  • Experience with Assortment Planning Software (e.g., SAS, JDA, Oracle).
  • Experience working for a large retail organization, preferably in Merchandising, Store Planning, or Store Operations.
