About the position

The Merchandise Manager (MM) at Ulta Beauty is responsible for leading a high-performing team to achieve top-line sales growth while embodying the company's mission, vision, and values. This role involves overseeing store operations, including shipment processes, replenishment, and compliance with operational standards. The MM is expected to drive performance through effective management of sales, inventory, and team development, ensuring a culture of accountability and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Promote a culture of accountability to meet or exceed store goals related to sales and guest loyalty.
  • Drive company profitability through operational excellence and expense control.
  • Leverage store forecast and payroll budgets to support scheduling needs and maximize productivity.
  • Review and analyze financial and operational reporting to react timely to store performance.
  • Perform makeup applications and product demonstrations to enhance guest service experience.
  • Attract, hire, and retain a diverse team of top talent.
  • Support associate professional development through training and feedback.
  • Model a culture of operational excellence by leading by example and sharing best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty's policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Execute day-to-day inventory control processes and minimize loss.

Requirements

  • High school diploma is preferred.
  • 1-2+ years of fast-paced retail management or relevant work experience.
  • Experience in financial management, including driving sales and managing payroll budgets.
  • Proven ability in retail management, achieving operational excellence, and executing merchandising directives.
  • Experience in leadership management, attracting and developing talent, and leading teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficient with basic technology (e.g., Point of Sale system, Microsoft Office programs).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.
