The Merchandise Planner for Jewelry at Target plays a crucial role in managing financials and forecasting for the jewelry business. This position involves conducting comparative analysis of seasonal performance, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and making strategic decisions to optimize product assortments and inventory management. The planner will act as a liaison between Merchandising and Supply Chain, ensuring that product offerings align with projected sales and market demands.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comparative analysis of holiday or seasonal performance reports.
  • Provide insights to inform the Inventory team's work to support projected sales.
  • Act as a hub between Merchandising and Supply Chain, creating a financial link between the two groups.
  • Provide in-season decision support and collaborate on assortment planning.
  • Recommend localization and channel strategies, including cluster types and profiles.
  • Lead demand forecasting and support divisional strategy through category expertise.
  • Head up the open-to-buy process and decide on category-level investment.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for variation between supply and demand forecasts.
  • Communicate implications of forecasts to vendors and support chase-cancel decisions.
  • Conduct scenario planning, build unit plans, and lead initial set planning.
  • Interpret forecast results and conduct what-if analysis for recommendations.
  • Validate unit promo planning forecast and drive maintenance and risk analysis.
  • Run event forecast creation and analyze item lifecycles for end-of-season management.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree or equivalent experience.
  • 2-6 years of relevant experience.
  • 1+ years of Merchandising experience.
  • Strong strategic, financial, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to translate data from various sources into insights and recommendations.
  • Strong collaboration skills to partner with cross-functional teams.
  • Flexible and resilient, comfortable working in changing environments.
