About the position

The Merchandise Planner at Shopbop is responsible for partnering with buyers to create and implement seasonal and annual merchandise strategies. This role focuses on building financial plans that align with these strategies to maximize profitability while managing inventory health and forecasting. The position requires strong analytical skills to drive decision-making and optimize sales and inventory productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with buyer to design seasonal and annual strategies by category and vendor.
  • Build financial plans in accordance with merchandise strategies to maximize profitability.
  • Drive decision making in season to achieve financial and strategic targets.
  • Manage inventory health, open-to-buy, item-level forecasting, and assortment planning.
  • Optimize sales and inventory productivity through analysis and plans that drive high impact decision making.
  • Forecast financials and related operational metrics.
  • Manage reporting, driving a high standard for analytical excellence.
  • Develop price reduction and exit recommendations with buying team.
  • Plan and forecast reconciliation across type and category.
  • Envision the future and facilitate building it.
  • Train and develop team members.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience with Excel
  • 4+ years of supply chain, inventory management or project management experience
  • Bachelor's degree, or 3+ years of professional or military experience
  • Knowledge of the principles of statistical inventory control

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SQL
