About the position

The Merchandise Planner at Nickey Kehoe is responsible for managing and analyzing key retail performance metrics, leading strategic planning meetings with the Buying Team, and making informed inventory decisions. This role involves generating sales reports, monitoring inventory levels, and collaborating with Buyers to optimize product assortments and improve sales and margins.

Responsibilities

  • Update the open to buy report at month end with actualized and projected sales, receipts, and inventory turns.
  • Lead the monthly meeting with the Buying Team, collaborating closely with Buyers on strategic plans and providing clear direction on budgetary guard rails.
  • Generate weekly performance reports that recap selling by channel and department, comparing weekly sales to last year and to plan.
  • Identify best and slow sellers and key areas of opportunity.
  • Create a weekly replenishment report that reports sell-through and weeks of supply at the SKU level.
  • Make reorder and stock balancing recommendations to Buyers.
  • Write replenishment orders on all NK Basics to ensure products are never out of stock.
  • Analyze productivity at the SKU level to determine departments that are overassorted or underserved.
  • Develop SKU plans at the Category and Group level based on data analysis.
  • Provide the Vintage Buying team with budgets drilled down to the product group level in advance of quarterly buying trips.
  • Recap seasonal sell-throughs and highlight hits and misses by category, making recommendations for future buys.
  • Create new store plans as the company ventures into new markets, ensuring they are data-driven and support company goals.
  • Run ad hoc reports as needed to drive unique business needs.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years experience in Merchandise Planning & Allocation.
  • Deep understanding and fluency in retail math and merchandise planning.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel with a minimum of 5 years experience.
  • Strong analytical skills with a curiosity to dig deeper into data.
  • Ability to articulate and present strategy in group settings.
  • Effective communication skills with the Executive Team.
  • Exceptional time and project management skills.
