About the position

The Merchandise Planner at Half-Moon Outfitters plays a vital role in supporting the planning function of the company. This position is responsible for developing inventory and merchandising strategies to enhance the success of the business, particularly within specific merchandise segments. The ideal candidate should have a strong passion for outdoor gear, apparel, and footwear, along with excellent organizational and detail-oriented skills.

Responsibilities

• Partner with internal Buyers and vendors to monitor and update purchase orders.
• Enter all Universal Product Code catalogs from vendors into the Company's inventory management system.
• Assist with liquidation maintenance to ensure that open liquidation purchase orders are accurate.
• Set groups for purchase orders.
• Enter orders into the Company's electronic purchasing system.
• Continually communicate with stores to discover trends, needs, and understand local market demographics.
• Maintain and monitor warehouse flow.
• Collaborate with Assistant Buyers and Buyers to maximize sales, gross margin, inventory productivity, and in-stock rates.
• Transfer inventory between stores, as needed.
• Facilitate communication of store memos and marketing strategies to store-based employees and collaborate with the Marketing team to ensure accurate messaging.
• Display exceptional organizational and time management skills with keen attention to detail.
• Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present information clearly and effectively.

Requirements

• 1 year of experience in Microsoft Excel.
• 1 year of experience in communication skills.
• 1 year of experience in time management.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Fashion Merchandising, Consumer Retail studies, Textile management, or related field preferred.
• Excellent understanding of retail math and its application in planning and analysis.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions and data analysis tools.

Nice-to-haves

• 6 months' experience in fashion/footwear industry, merchandise planning, inventory management, retail, or related field preferred.
