About the position

Carter's Inc. is seeking a Merchandise Planner who will be responsible for developing short- and mid-range financial plans and providing insights on long-term outlooks. This role requires a passion for forecasting and planning, with an entrepreneurial mindset to seek growth opportunities and take ownership of financial plans. The Merchandise Planner will collaborate with various teams to create strategies that align with company goals, maximizing sales and managing inventory effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Develop short- and mid-range financial plans and provide insights on long-term outlooks.
  • Present seasonal buying strategies to leadership, aligning assortment strategies with financial goals.
  • Manage 12-18 month forecasts for optimal replenishment flows.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Pricing teams for pre-season alignment on promotional strategies.
  • Execute monthly or ad-hoc re-forecasts of financial plans based on trends.
  • Partner with Finance to provide insights for long-range planning and growth strategies.
  • Quantify the impact of strategic, promotional, and assortment changes.
  • Collaborate with Allocation to execute store receipts and buy targets.
  • Work with business process and IT teams to enhance system capabilities and resolve data discrepancies.
  • Provide ad-hoc business reports and analysis as needed.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in planning principles, financial budgeting, and retail fundamentals.
  • Proficiency in retail math and analytics, planning systems (e.g. Anaplan), and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience working cross-functionally with Merchandise Analysts and Business Process teams.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
