About the position

As a Merchandise Planner at Bernard Nickels & Associates, you will be responsible for driving a multichannel financial strategy and assortment planning for various product categories. This role requires a deep understanding of business insights, analytics, and market trends to inform inventory decisions and optimize product performance across all sales channels. You will work closely with the Merchandise Planning Manager to develop financial plans that align with product strategies, manage in-season performance, and ensure profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Strategize and develop financial plans to achieve growth and profitability for all channels.
  • Own pre-season plans that align with merchandise and category initiatives.
  • Manage category product releases to mitigate financial gaps year over year.
  • Understand and manage in-season performance and identify trends for future seasons.
  • Leverage weekly business insights to maximize in-season opportunities and minimize liabilities.
  • Create high-level revenue benchmarks to achieve financial objectives across categories.
  • Partner with the Buyer to rank new products and determine sales plans and inventory buys.
  • Manage and input retail category plans for Annual Operating Plans.
  • Develop stratification of items to optimize SKU efficiency and ensure inventory management.
  • Own category Profit & Loss and drive the business with accountability to revenue and cost of goods.
  • Re-forecast sales, inventory, and margin monthly based on category performance through the OTB process.
  • Provide cause of change for monthly OTB meetings.
  • Use available tools to analyze and react to business trends.
  • Communicate proactively on stock availability and understand Store Assortment Plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or equivalent is required.
  • 2+ years of merchandise planning experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft tools & Business Objects.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including comfort with executive-level presentations.
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt to feedback and changing organizational priorities.
  • Flexible and adaptable to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Resourceful with problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with peers and partners.
