About the position

At Zappos, the Senior Merchandising Services Manager plays a pivotal role in the overall development, direction, coordination, and execution of merchandising projects and initiatives. The Senior Merchandising Services Manager will be responsible for creating detailed project plans to track progress, managing budgets associated with projects, and assisting stakeholders with contract negotiations and budgetary decisions. This position also involves researching, interpreting, and reporting data findings from projects to relevant parties. Leadership is a key component of this role, as the manager will provide mentoring, training, and performance management to team members, ensuring their professional growth and development. In addition to project management, the role requires a strong understanding of budget allocation, contract management, and critical thinking. The manager must be detail-oriented, capable of developing direct reports, and possess strong hiring and staffing skills. The ability to innovate and manage work effectively is crucial, as is the capacity to maintain positive peer relationships and manage vendor relations. The Senior Merchandising Services Manager will also be expected to balance work and life effectively, ensuring that both personal and professional commitments are met without compromising quality or performance.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to determine necessary merchandising projects and initiatives.
  • Develop project scopes and objectives, involving all appropriate stakeholders to ensure technical feasibility.
  • Timeline projects from conception to completion to ensure efficient and streamlined project completion.
  • Develop detailed project/initiative plans to track progress.
  • Manage budgets associated with projects and initiatives.
  • Assist stakeholders with contract negotiation and budgetary decisions.
  • Research, interpret, and report data/findings from projects to appropriate parties.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, training, and performance management to merchandising services team members.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 8 years of merchandising experience.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of project management-related experience in merchandising, procurement, pricing, supply chain, or related fields.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
